When you increase diversity, you change the world
UBC is one of the most exciting centres of learning in Canada and a highly attractive destination for students from all over the world. We are committed to advancing a culture of diversity that drives innovation and moves society forward.
One of the ways we can increase diversity is by making sure every qualified student has the opportunity to study here, to contribute to the fabric of our university, and to make a difference in our world. We hope we can count on you to help.
UBC has established the new Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award to help remove financial barriers for Black Canadian students who have outstanding academic and leadership qualifications but who may not otherwise be able to attend UBC. It’s the one of the newest financial awards under the UBC Blue & Gold Campaign for Students – a highly successful campaign that has already helped over two thousand deserving students, thanks to alumni and other members of our giving community.
This important new award is part of the UBC Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program, a university-wide initiative to actively recruit and support Black students. In addition to the financial award, the program offers tailored support that recognizes Black students’ unique experiences and provides resources to help create a connected Black community at UBC.
Our goal is to have funds in place to award up to 10 exceptional students for the 2021 Winter session. Please show your support for our Beyond Tomorrow scholars by making a generous donation before March 21, 2021.
And your gift today will go even further! All new gifts up to $50,000 per donor to the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award will be matched to a total of $250,000!
Give now and support students like Alex Thorpe.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got the award. It was a very emotional moment. Thank you to UBC donors from the bottom of my heart. It’s completely life-changing.”
