Support Black excellence at UBC, a campus priority

All across UBC’s Vancouver campus, our faculty, students, and staff are working to advance healthy lives, create solutions for the planet, and shape thriving societies.

Some of the current campus-wide initiatives being profiled include:

• Removing financial barriers for Black Canadian students
• Facilitating two-way learning between Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and UBC
• Offering a more accessible and inclusive environment for Indigenous students
• Supporting UBC’s commitment to reconciliation
• Enhancing student mental health and wellbeing
• Reducing food insecurity for students

Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program & Award

The Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award helps remove financial barriers for Black Canadian students who bring a strong commitment and interest in growing their academic and leadership qualifications but who may not otherwise be able to attend UBC.

Downtown Eastside Learning Exchange

We’re here to connect people—Downtown Eastside residents, UBC students and faculty, and community organizations — to learn from each other. We create a unique shared space for exploring ideas and opportunities, a learning hub where members of the community and the university can exchange experience and expertise.

First Nations House of Learning

The First Nations House of Learning (FNHL) strives to make the university a more accessible and inclusive environment for Indigenous students, by collaborating with other units on campus to provide programming, resources, and events.

Gateway Health Building

UBC recognizes the need to take this burden off students and provide them with a centralized location on the Vancouver campus for all their health and wellbeing needs. To do this, UBC is creating Integrated Student Health and Wellbeing Services & Programs, an integrated hub within a flagship new building: the Gateway Health building.

Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre

Your gift will support the important work of the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre to provide access to important records, facilitate meaningful dialogue, illuminate a previously hidden history, and enact UBC’s commitment to reconciliation.

Sustainability Scholars Program

The UBC Sustainability Scholars Program provides paid internships for UBC graduate students to work on sustainability issues for organizations across the south coast of British Columbia and southern Vancouver Island.
