There are many ways to make a difference

When you give to UBC, you are supporting thinking that can change the world. There are many different ways to give to UBC — read below to find an option that suits your needs.

Give by payroll

If you are UBC employee, you have the option to give by payroll. To set up a regular payroll donation, simply use our online payroll donation form. Your gift will automatically be deducted from your paycheque, and your annual contribution will be noted on your T4 for tax purposes.

Give by mail or phone

If you would prefer not to give online, you can give by mail or phone. There is a printable donation form for mailing in (available in English, French & Chinese) or call to speak directly to one of our team members.

Crowdfundraising

We created Crowdfundraising UBC to help the UBC community crowdfund for their projects, without incurring the admin costs associated with using external platforms. Head to Crowdfundraising UBC to find a listing of all current projects that need your help to reach their goals.

Create an award

Help outstanding students at UBC succeed by creating a student award. You can fund an award either on an annual basis or by creating an endowment to support students in perpetuity. You will be empowering students to become leaders with the potential to shape a better world.

Create an endowment

When you create an endowment, your gift is invested for the long term and the annual interest is distributed according to the terms you have established. Endowments provide stable, dependable support for UBC programs and students, for this generation and generations to come.

RRSPs, RRIFs and TFSAs

Giving retirement assets is one of the easiest, most tax-effective ways to support research and learning at UBC. Retirement assets can be a costly gift to distribute, but they make ideal donations to charitable organizations such as UBC.

Securities

When publicly-listed securities — such as stocks, bonds, shares and mutual funds — are directly donated to UBC, the tax on their associated capital gains is eliminated. UBC will sell the securities and direct the proceeds to your specified area of interest on campus.

Real estate & personal property

UBC welcomes gifts of property such as real estate, works of art and personal collections. These may be used to advance learning or sold so the proceeds can be directed to your area of interest. You can make a gift of property now, through your will, or through a gift of future interest.

Foundations

Under the University Foundations Act, the University of British Columbia Foundation was established in 1987 as an Agent of the Crown to encourage financial support for UBC and its programs, facilities and activities, and to receive funds and property for the benefit of UBC.

Charitable foundations in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong have been established to support donors who want to give to UBC from these areas.
