Dear Classmates of the UBC Law Class of 1970,
The UBC Law Class of 1970 reunion committee invites you and your guest to join us on September 19th, 2015 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of our graduation. The event will begin with a guided tour of the spectacular Peter A. Allard School of Law Building and a reception in the faculty lounge. Following the Allard Hall visit, dinner will be held at another stunning new building on campus – the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre.
Looking back at what happened from 1967 to 1970:
Our class graduated with 136 men and 5 women; we attended classes in WW II army huts; Tony Hooper was then teaching Real Estate Transactions; in our second year, there was an influx of new profs, mainly in section 3; first-year moots were despairingly argued before benches of drunk third-year students; the law women won the floor hockey title in women’s intramural competition; the university main-frame computer was in a large room with metal cabinets containing reel-to-reel tapes; the law library was in four rooms and had an index card catalogue.
To appropriately mark our 45th anniversary, and in the spirit of philanthropy, we encourage you to consider this celebration as an opportunity to give something back to the faculty that brought us all together. Therefore, we invite all of you to give as generously as you can to the Graduating Class of 1970 Bursary. Gifts will go towards providing vital financial support for law students, both now and in the future. By supporting student bursaries, we help talented people achieve ambitious goals and fulfill the promise of their careers, their fields of study, and our society. Since establishment, at our 30th reunion in Harrison Hot Springs, this endowed bursary has provided 12 awards totalling $12,546 to deserving students who faced financial challenges in continuing their legal education.
Please click on the REGISTER button below to RSVP for the event and to make your donation.
The registration fee of $158.00 per person includes reception, dinner, GST, and gratuity. There will be cash bars at both the reception and the dinner. UBC will send you confirmation of your booking once your payment by credit card is received.
