The Thunderbird Swimming Excellence Fund is a new avenue for alumni, friends and supporters of UBC Varsity Swimming to be a part of, and contribute to, the program’s success. Created by the UBC Thunderbird Swimming Society and Head Coach Steve Price, the fund provides an opportunity for you to support the operations of the varsity swimming program and make a substantial and direct impact on the resources we can provide for our student-athletes.
UBC Varsity Swimming has a rich history of excellence, being the most decorated team in UBC history with an eye-popping 21 national titles for the women’s team and 15 for the men’s. In fact, from 1998 to 2007, the program won 10 consecutive titles for both men and women, a record unmatched in U Sports history. The program is defined by both championships won and the quality and character of its graduates.
Your support is now needed more than ever. The Thunderbird Swimming Excellence Fund is an ambitious endeavour with the goal to raise $750,000 to establish an endowed fund, with the income supporting coaching as a priority area of need. The fund may also be used to support operational costs of the program, such as competition opportunities, travel, talent identification and athlete services, as determined by the Head Coach and Athletics. Support from alumni and friends has ensured the hiring of alumnus Derrick Schoof in the role of Assistant Coach. You have already begun to make a difference!
Your generous contributions can continue our commitment to excellence in the pool, in the classroom and on the world stage. Every contribution counts and will make a difference, so please make a donation to the Thunderbird Swimming Excellence Fund today.
Thank you for your support!
