Today’s doctoral students are tomorrow’s thought leaders and educators. With their highly focused research and advanced level of study, they are finding new ways of thinking about the world we live in. Working alongside distinguished academics across the Sauder School, they are pushing the boundaries of knowledge as they seek answers to the complex questions and problems facing business and our society. Working in the classroom, they inspire and ensure students are ready to make their own contributions in the world.
With more than 60 PhD students in residence from four continents and 17 countries, these students bring a wealth of perspectives to their studies and to the life of the School. Upon graduation, they move into top-tier careers in leading academic institutions, government and industry worldwide.
Deciding to pursue this knowledge requires a significant financial commitment from each student. Fellowships are a valuable source of financial support, allowing doctoral students the freedom to pursue their own research interests. The School currently provides PhD students with fellowships of $26,000 per year plus tuition, guaranteed to all doctoral students for four years.
Recently, with more restraints on the School’s budget and new regulations introduced at federal granting agencies, providing fellowship support to PhD students has become challenging and increasingly restricted. Donor support for the PhD program is critical to recruit and support top doctoral candidates from around the world, retain academic talent dedicated to fostering the next generation of thought leaders, inspire new ideas and perspectives, and create a more robust and innovative learning community.
