The Pharmacy Practice Centre is where students receive hands-on training in the legal, technical and professional aspects of dispensing prescriptions and providing pharmaceutical care. It serves as a safe and supportive learning environment for students before they go out into their clerkships.
Donations to the Pharmacy Practice Centre Fund will ensure that this essential learning space remains well-stocked and well-resourced—as supplies become consumed or expire, equipment needs replacing, and new learning tools become introduced.
The Practice Centre is divided into 3 areas:
Fully-functional Dispensary carrying the top 200 most prescribed drugs in Canada. Compounding supplies and equipment are stocked to teach basic compounding skills.
Library & Study Area with reference copies of textbooks and printed resources required by provincial pharmacies to have on hand as determined by the industry’s governing bodies, for example, the annually-published Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (CPS).
Counseling Rooms for practicing patient consultations, over the telephone by script, and in-person through the use of standardized patients (actors) hired to role-play. Computerized patient simulators are used to learn patient assessment.
