Building Nursing – 100 Years and Counting

Building Nursing – 100 Years and Counting

As the School of Nursing celebrates its one hundredth year, we are looking to the future and planning a new building, specifically designed and built for nursing research and education. Make a gift today to mark our centenary, and help us create a transformative learning environment for the next generation of nursing students

About This Project

When the School of Nursing opened in 1919, students were crowded into a group of shabby, wooden buildings dubbed the “Fairview Shacks.” In the hundred years following its establishment, the school has since relocated several times in response to rising enrolment and the ever-expanding scope and potential of nursing practice, to remain one of the top nursing schools in Canada.

As we continue to push the boundaries of nursing education and expand the depth and breadth of our research, our community of students, researchers and educators need space to keep pace with the changing demands of the profession — a place of permanence, where our deep foundation will support and sustain health care roles and innovations that our graduates have yet to dream of and aspire to.

A new building, specifically designed and built for nursing research and education, will be a critical first step as we forge ahead into the next phase of our history. Your contribution to this project will help us create a transformative learning environment that will ensure the advancement of our leading nursing curriculum and expand on our heritage of clinical and academic excellence.
