SAS is a community-based direct care program that works in partnership with public health dental staff across BC and UBC Dentistry to assist children from families without access to public or private dental plan coverage. Public health dental staff screen children for clinical and financial eligibility as well as provide parent education to prevent dental problems from recurring. Eligible children receive treatment through dentists in the community.
Dental disease has a tremendous impact on children. Untreated problems can cause pain; interfere with sleep; affect concentration and attendance at school; influence nutrition; and create barriers to socialization. Meeting children’s dental care needs would not be possible without the generosity of SAS program donors. One hundred percent of all funds raised for SAS are directed to patient care. To date, the SAS program has supported nearly 1,700 children in accessing dental treatment.
UBC Faculty of Dentistry works in partnership with Save a Smile to administer program funds. Your contribution to the campaign will be allocated for the provision of dental treatment for children in need. Please make your contribution today. Thank you.
